Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute

University of the Philippines - Diliman

Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering (STeP-UP)

The Space Science and Technology Proliferation through University Partnerships (STeP-UP) Project is a component project under the Space Technology and Applications Mastery, Innovation and Advancement (STAMINA4Space), a Deparment of Science and Technology (DOST) funded program that utilizes the gains from the PHL-Microsat Program towards further building an enabling environment for interdisciplinary collaboration in the country through engagements with the academe, industry, and other government agencies.

The STeP-UP Project, implemented by the UP Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute (UP EEEI) will offer the country’s first graduate track on nanosatellite engineering under UP EEEI’s Master of Science/Masters of Engineering in Electrical Engineering (MS/MEngg EE). The nanosatellite engineering track will include special lectures and hands-on activities on satellite design, development and testing to be conducted at UP EEEI. All activities under the nanosatellite engineering track will lead to a 10x10x10 cubesatellite (1U cubesat) that will be launched to an ISS orbit. The activities will be supported through scholarships that will be provided by the DOST Science Education Institute (SEI).

Proposed Plan of Study

Note: For MS study, EE elective courses will be substituted with EE 300 or thesis work. The thesis of MS students is separate from, but can be related to, the development of the cubesatellites.
