UP EEEI staff bags Haligi ng Engineering 2016

Mr. Sukarno “Boyet” Ali, Precision Instrument Technician and Lecturer in the UP Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute (UP EEEI) bagged this year’s Haligi ng Engineering.

The said recognition, sponsored by the Tau Alpha Foundation, Inc., is given to Administrative Personnel or Research, Extension, and Professional Staff (REPS) “whose accomplishments have helped improve the College or the Institute/Department they are in.”

The 2016 Gabi ng Parangal for Admin/REPS was held at the 2nd floor, Melchor Hall lobby, on 10 June 2016.

Last year, the Institute was also well-represented in the UP College of Engineering (COE) Awards, with two winners coming from the Institute. Dr. Joel Joseph Marciano. Jr. was recognized as the 2015 Most Outstanding Engineering Professor, while Administrative Officer Amelia “Mimi” Yanzon as the Haligi of Engineering.

The COE Awards is an annual week-long tradition of giving recognition to outstanding employees and students of the College. It is also in commemoration of the foundation day of the College, which was on 13 June 1910. Other awards include Most Outstanding Engineering Instructor, the Limcaoco Instructor Award for Teaching Excellence, the Domindor Ilio Award for Most Outstanding All-Around Engineering Student, the Garrick Yao Memorial Award for Service, Most Outstanding Research, UP Alumni Engineers (UPAE) Lifetime Achievement Award, and UPAE Presidential Award for Leadership.

The COE awardees were awarded during the Recognition Rites at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), on 27 June 2016.
