UP EEEI, UP CS receive Nokia Teaching Innovation and Enhancement Grant

The UP Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute (UP EEEI) capped the year by hosting a Deed of Donation Signing Ceremony between the Nokia­ Manila Technology Center and the UP Engineering Research and Development Foundation, Inc., on 18 December 2015, at the Nokia Telecommunications Engineering Laboratory (Rm. 227), EEEI Building II.

The deed of donations specifies that the UP EEEI and the UP Department of Computer Science (UP CS) are to receive a Php.1.4 million­ worth of grant for the next three years. The Nokia Teaching Innovation and Enhancement Grant is intended to support faculty members teach courses on advanced concepts in software development and mobile communication systems. These are new courses that are co-developed by the faculty members with a team at the Nokia Manila Technology Center.

The Ceremony was graced with the presence of the; UP Engineering Research and Development Foundation, Inc. (UPERDFI) President, Engr. Alfonso Aliga, Jr.; UP EEEI Director,  Dr. John Richard Hizon; former UP EEEI Director, Dr. Joel Joseph Marciano, Jr.; HR head, Ms. Christina Cabreba; Nokia Site Manager, Mr. Erwin Ong; and Nokia Recruitment Leader, Joanne Caparas.

Last 19 March 2015, the Institute also celebrated the inauguration of the endowed (Php.3.7 million­ worth of equipment and refurbishment) Nokia Telecommunications Engineering Laboratory.
