UP and MERALCO sign MoU; UP-EEEI to receive Php4M for lecture hall renovation

To establish an industry-academe partnership that will promote training, research, and development in the electric power and energy sector, the University of the Philippines and the Manila Electric Company or MERALCO signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), in The Lighthouse, Meralco Center, Ortigas, Pasig City, December 19, 2014.

The MOU also stipulates MERALCO’s support to the UP-Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute (UP-EEEI) through the refurbishment and renovation of one of its existing lecture halls. The donation, in the amount of PhP4M, is earmarked for the “technical upgrade of the lecture hall” at Room 120 in EEEI Building.

The President and CEO of MERALCO, Oscar S. Reyes; SVP and Head of MERALCO Human Resources, Ramon B. Segismundo; Head of Marketing and Business Development of MERALCO Power Academy, Ms. Agnes L. Fidelino; Dean of the UP College of Engineering, Dr. Aura C. Matias; and UP President Alfredo E. Pascual graced the ceremonial MoU signing with their presence.
